And the Crying Begins…
This article is hilarious. Who in the WORLD decided to give this guy a column is what I want to know. We all know it’s a flawed system, that’s not my problem with his writing. The problem that I have is the fact that he brings up Georgia for National Championship contention. Isn’t Georgia a 2-loss team? Didn’t they lose to South Carolina & Tennesee therefore not getting a right to play for the SEC East in the Championship? I watched the Sugar Bowl from the sidelines, so don’t tell me this and that about Hawaii, cause that team was not up to caliber to play anyone in the SEC. I would’nt give them a shot against teams like Ole Miss and Alabama for that matter.
This is what Les Miles had to say
I can tell you that a year ago we finished pretty strong. A year ago, we played in the Sugar Bowl and we played a nationally ranked team and fared pretty well. We didn’t say anything, because you know why? Because it’s about this game, it’s about the championship game.
Guess we just don’t cry as much as the rest of the country.
Seriously where did this guy come from… oh that’s right he’s a Georgia graduate and used to be a columnist in Atlanta for years. Give me a break…
Bayou Bengal BCS
For the second straight year an SEC team has won the BCS Championship, and LSU becomes the first team to win this game two times. Ohio State University is now 0-9 against the SEC in bowl games, and for the second straight year leaves New Orleans with nothing more than a Burbon Street hangover and plastic beads. The AP poll also sided with the BCS and awarded LSU with the #1 spot, therefore making no arguments on the top team in College football for 2008.
The game did not start off so good for the Tigers from Baton Rouge when OSU was able to bust open a long run for a TD and then a drive which ended with a short field goal to go up 10-0. Then suddenly LSU decided to join in the fun with 4 good drives resulting in a FG, a Dickson TD, LaFell TD, & a Hester TD. Halftime score 24-10 LSU.
The third quarter was more of the same when LSU came out and scored using Early Doucet on a short pass from Flynn. OSU would narrow the margin with a Robiske TD reception making the score 31-17 LSU. Tight end Richard Dickson from LSU was not done when he caught a 5 yard pass to top off a 9 play 53 yard drive with another touchdown. The celebration began inside for LSU and they let another touchdown slip for Boeckman and this would be the final score 38-24.
I was at the game on the sidelines and I must say that LSU was very well rested & prepared for the task at hand. Bo Pellini’s defense had one last hurrah for their coordinator by pressuring Boeckman and not allowing him the time he needed to put a good offense on the field. Once LSU got their ‘swagger’ there was no stopping them, as we’ve seen with this ball club all year long. The fears of second quarter langour were put to rest when Flynn hit Doucet for the short touchdown in the south endzone. The wind was definitly taken out of the Buckeye sails after this touchdown and you could feel it emminating from the bench. You did not have to look much farther than the faces of the OSU faithful in the stands to see their pain and hopes of a national championship dashing away in purple and gold. Shortly after that last score by LSU you could feel the buzz beginning to muster from the chinese bandit brigades & tones of ‘neck‘ began to resound from the LSU band. When the time came to celebrate, LSU was ready and willing as they rolled to another championship in classic form.
Hats off to Coach Les Miles & his squad for a great season and never saying quit. Oh, and I actually took that picture that’s above at the game… Geaux Tigers!
Gameday
I think that it is finally setting in for me that the Tigers are playing for the National Championship tonight. After getting out of bed this morning, I suddenly felt nervous and realized what was at stake. More than just bragging rights, it’s the right to quiet about half the ‘sports world’ and so called ‘know it alls’ who keep talking bad about Tiger football. Until the system changes, people need to play by the rules and understand that this is the way college football will be played. We have 2 losses, yes. We lost to a team that got blown out in it’s bowl game, yes. But the last time I checked, USC, Missouri & Georgia lost 2 games, Kansas played one ranked opponent before winning their bowl game, and Hawaii couldn’t live up to the hype. People need to get off the ‘lsu-hatred’ bandwagon and find something else to write about. You hear me Gene Wojciechowski?
Yesterday, a whole bunch of us went down to the French Quarter to hang out and have some fun with Tiger & Buckeye fans. Although I didn’t see any drunk LSU doing what Gene talked about, I did find that most of the OSU fans were very nice and easy to talk to, which is good because when it all comes down to it College Football is about having fun and cheering for your team. Not being an idiot like some fans like to be…
For the first time in about 19 years, the Buckeyes and Tigers will meet again, after the 88/89 Big Ten/SEC Battles that ended with a tie and a OSU victory in the other game. Tonight’s game should be full of speed, as these two teams both like to play with intensity and are not afraid to stretch the field using talent at every position. The defensive line of LSU versus the offensive line of Ohio State should be a key point to the game tonight. If LSU can impose it’s will against them on this front, it is going to be a very rough game for the Buckeyes. Also look for Jacob Hester, Demetrius Byrd & secret weapon Trindon Holliday to have good games if you want the Tigers to come out victorious and achieve their second National Title in this decade.
Geaux Tigers!!
