This article is hilarious. Who in the WORLD decided to give this guy a column is what I want to know. We all know it’s a flawed system, that’s not my problem with his writing. The problem that I have is the fact that he brings up Georgia for National Championship contention. Isn’t Georgia a 2-loss team? Didn’t they lose to South Carolina & Tennesee therefore not getting a right to play for the SEC East in the Championship? I watched the Sugar Bowl from the sidelines, so don’t tell me this and that about Hawaii, cause that team was not up to caliber to play anyone in the SEC. I would’nt give them a shot against teams like Ole Miss and Alabama for that matter.
This is what Les Miles had to say
I can tell you that a year ago we finished pretty strong. A year ago, we played in the Sugar Bowl and we played a nationally ranked team and fared pretty well. We didn’t say anything, because you know why? Because it’s about this game, it’s about the championship game.
Guess we just don’t cry as much as the rest of the country.
Seriously where did this guy come from… oh that’s right he’s a Georgia graduate and used to be a columnist in Atlanta for years. Give me a break…
For the second straight year an SEC team has won the BCS Championship, and LSU becomes the first team to win this game two times. Ohio State University is now 0-9 against the SEC in bowl games, and for the second straight year leaves New Orleans with nothing more than a Burbon Street hangover and plastic beads. The AP poll also sided with the BCS and awarded LSU with the #1 spot, therefore making no arguments on the top team in College football for 2008.
The game did not start off so good for the Tigers from Baton Rouge when OSU was able to bust open a long run for a TD and then a drive which ended with a short field goal to go up 10-0. Then suddenly LSU decided to join in the fun with 4 good drives resulting in a FG, a Dickson TD, LaFell TD, & a Hester TD. Halftime score 24-10 LSU.
The third quarter was more of the same when LSU came out and scored using Early Doucet on a short pass from Flynn. OSU would narrow the margin with a Robiske TD reception making the score 31-17 LSU. Tight end Richard Dickson from LSU was not done when he caught a 5 yard pass to top off a 9 play 53 yard drive with another touchdown. The celebration began inside for LSU and they let another touchdown slip for Boeckman and this would be the final score 38-24.
I was at the game on the sidelines and I must say that LSU was very well rested & prepared for the task at hand. Bo Pellini’s defense had one last hurrah for their coordinator by pressuring Boeckman and not allowing him the time he needed to put a good offense on the field. Once LSU got their ‘swagger’ there was no stopping them, as we’ve seen with this ball club all year long. The fears of second quarter langour were put to rest when Flynn hit Doucet for the short touchdown in the south endzone. The wind was definitly taken out of the Buckeye sails after this touchdown and you could feel it emminating from the bench. You did not have to look much farther than the faces of the OSU faithful in the stands to see their pain and hopes of a national championship dashing away in purple and gold. Shortly after that last score by LSU you could feel the buzz beginning to muster from the chinese bandit brigades & tones of ‘neck‘ began to resound from the LSU band. When the time came to celebrate, LSU was ready and willing as they rolled to another championship in classic form.
Hats off to Coach Les Miles & his squad for a great season and never saying quit. Oh, and I actually took that picture that’s above at the game… Geaux Tigers!
I think that it is finally setting in for me that the Tigers are playing for the National Championship tonight. After getting out of bed this morning, I suddenly felt nervous and realized what was at stake. More than just bragging rights, it’s the right to quiet about half the ‘sports world’ and so called ‘know it alls’ who keep talking bad about Tiger football. Until the system changes, people need to play by the rules and understand that this is the way college football will be played. We have 2 losses, yes. We lost to a team that got blown out in it’s bowl game, yes. But the last time I checked, USC, Missouri & Georgia lost 2 games, Kansas played one ranked opponent before winning their bowl game, and Hawaii couldn’t live up to the hype. People need to get off the ‘lsu-hatred’ bandwagon and find something else to write about. You hear me Gene Wojciechowski?
Yesterday, a whole bunch of us went down to the French Quarter to hang out and have some fun with Tiger & Buckeye fans. Although I didn’t see any drunk LSU doing what Gene talked about, I did find that most of the OSU fans were very nice and easy to talk to, which is good because when it all comes down to it College Football is about having fun and cheering for your team. Not being an idiot like some fans like to be…
For the first time in about 19 years, the Buckeyes and Tigers will meet again, after the 88/89 Big Ten/SEC Battles that ended with a tie and a OSU victory in the other game. Tonight’s game should be full of speed, as these two teams both like to play with intensity and are not afraid to stretch the field using talent at every position. The defensive line of LSU versus the offensive line of Ohio State should be a key point to the game tonight. If LSU can impose it’s will against them on this front, it is going to be a very rough game for the Buckeyes. Also look for Jacob Hester, Demetrius Byrd & secret weapon Trindon Holliday to have good games if you want the Tigers to come out victorious and achieve their second National Title in this decade.
Geaux Tigers!!

The Georgia Bulldogs went to bat for the SEC and the rest of the college nation that actually plays viable opponents last night and gave the Hawaii Warriors an ‘on the chin’ welcome to the South. Hawaii quarterback Colt Brennan, who is apparently every sportscaster’s golden boy, threw for just 169 yards with 3 interceptions. He was pulled off the field by trainers after a short injury time out to never return and hold his head in his hands on the sideline. The Georgia defense held the NCAA leading scoring defense to only 10 points, using 6 sacks and 3 interceptions to fuel the steamroller.
I’ll give it to Hawaii for showing up, but it was getting a little old hearing them try to bide for a BCS championship. The Georgia faithful at the dome last night chanting overrated to Hawaii was a little harsh, but it’s SEC football so what do you expect.
One topic which really interests me is the talk of Georgia fans and players feeling ‘robbed’ for not playing for the National Championship.
Georgia safety Kelin Johnson, “We’re No. 1, and we’re supposed to be in the national championship game. The nation knows it, everyone knows it.”
Georia Linebacker Marcus Washington, “We’re the best in the land. We should be playing next week.”
Everyone feels that their team is No. 1 in the country after a bowl win, I guess they are of the type that think since they don’t play for their conference championship they should be able to play for the big game? Start playing for conference championships first, then talk about how you got ‘bamboozled’ playing in the Sugar Bowl.

Wait what? That’s right, we’re still playing for the National Championship. What an amazing College Football season we have had this year. If this does not show the need for a playoff system then I do not know what does. You have a lot of very pissed off fans around the nation saying that their team should be playing in ___ bowl. I honestly do not blame them. Lets set up a bracket like College Basketball and let everyone go at it. Do a top 30 team bracket, or top 20 whatever. The BCS is obviously flawed but it turns out that the flaw helped us this year.
As it turns out Ohio State has never beaten an SEC team in a bowl game. I hate stats like this one, because whenever you hear them you think, ‘well this will be the year that streak is over.’ I just hope that we can get healthy for the game, we have over a month to hit the ice baths & trainer sessions I just hope that is going to be enough. In my honest opinion, if Glen Dorsey is not 100% then he needs to sit. Since the Auburn chop block at mid-season he has not been the same. Teams still sometimes double team him, but I have not seen him hurry or sack a quarterback, or make a backfield tackle in quite a while. We need to have our best players out there, but that also means best in physical shape.
Geaux Tigers!
After the lost to UL Monroe I really think Nick Saban has upped the dose of his stupid medicine.
Nick had this to say:
“Changes in history usually occur after some kind of catastrophic event. It may be 9-11, which sort of changed the spirit of America relative to catastrophic events. Pearl Harbor kind of got u ready for World War II, and that was a catastrophic event.”
Jeff Purrington of Alabama promptly responded with:
“What Coach Saban said did not correlate losing a football game with tragedy, everyone needs to understand that. He was not equating losing football games to those catastrophic events.”
I was also let in on a nice little fact today by a co-worker. Nick Saban is the highest paid coach in football, guess who the least paid is? I guess when you outgain your opponent 409 to 282 you deserve that money, too bad they committed no turnovers compared to four by the Tide.
With Les Miles breaking down at a press conference when asked about the current open position in Ann Arbor, I’ve given a lot of thought as to how this is going to pan out. I personally think that Les is gone. There is no amount of money that they can offer him to match what Michigan means to Les, which is home. I do not blame Les one bit if he does take the Michigan job, and I wish him all the best and hope that he can shut OSU up for years to come. I just hope we can find a replacement and keep this ball rolling. A lof of people are talking about Tubberville possibly passing on the A&M job to take over at LSU should Miles leave. Although I hate Tubberville, I think I hate him for all the right reasons. I hate him because he does not coach at LSU and is a damn good coach. Kind of like the days when we all heard that Spurrier was returning from his NFL-stint and a few of us were hoping that he’d wander down to Death Valley. There’s times to realize why you hate someone, and the time might come after this season is over.

Well it looks like the story I posted about Nick was a little foreshadowing wasn’t it? The true testament to the character of Nick Saban was tested after the loss to the Warhawks of UL Monroe. Instead of running across the field and telling the opposing coach ‘good job’, he decided to promptly run off the field and into the locker room. Maybe his wife was there with open arms to comfort him. Better luck next time Nick!
In other news the Tigers sent Ole Piss to hell once again. These fans truly know how to party! I mean, who else shows up for a football game in a sundress and boots? This is one of my favorite rivalries because it’s just so easy to poke fun at these fans. During the last few seconds of the game an Ole Miss fan was screaming for LSU to ‘kneel on the ball and not run up the score’. Listen up buddy, if you are afraid of our team busting out a run from our own 4 yard line with 9 seconds on the clock, you’ve got bigger problems than getting beer on your penny loafers during tailgaiting.
