The Internet turned 40 yesterday, and Lifehacker has a nice article up. I suggest watching the video on that page, but only if you really want to know where all of this technology was first started. I especially like the part about what sites looked like when they first launched. I can still remember the early Yahoo & Google pages back in the day!

Browsing Smarter
Yet another reason to clear out your browser cookies.
In 2007, ShopSmart editors did their own test and found that prices differed based on the Web browsers and computers they used. Expedia.com, for example, gave them two different prices for a plane ticket from New York to Sydney, Australia, depending on which computer they were using to book the flight. The computer without cookies gave them a price that was $200 less.
I’m a big fan of CCleaner, the freeware program that will clear out all temporary items from your computer including browser cookies. It’s also good to use a browser that will allow you to remove temporary items when you close the window.
New Deal Site
I’m always looking for the best deal on the Internet nowadays. Usually this means visiting the normal deal sites like spoofee, woot & slickdeals. Well I can add another site to the mix with Beatthat.

Browsing Better
So you are browsing the web when suddenly a window opens telling you that you have a virus and you must click the button to rid yourself of this binary beast. What do you do? Sort of like a children’s choose your own adventure novel, browsing the web can take a turn for the worst at any given moment.
