Apple iPhone Update – 3.1.2

Apple has released a new OS 3.1.2 to solve some issues (Gizmodo)

  • Resolves sporadic issue that may cause iPhone to not wake from sleep
  • Resolves intermittent issue that may interrupt cellular network services until restart
  • Fixes bug that could cause occasional crash during video streaming

iPhone & AT&T MMS

In case you are the proud owner of an iPhone and have been at ends with typing in those curious and aggrivating codes for retrieving MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service), maybe you did not realize that your problems will be solved on September 25th when Apple & AT&T fix this issue

Before anyone starts the “where have you been” argument, I’ve been puttng off talking about this because they kept pushing back the release date and didn’t want to get anyone’s hopes up.  Who knows if they’ll push it back again…

I also stumbled on this little gem if you don’t want to wait that long.  Use at your own risk!

The Master’s on iPhone

Yet another reason to love my iPhone is the ability to watch The Master’s coverage from my phone all from within a nice free app from the app store.  Sweetness!

  •  Par 3 Contest, which features a live feed from this popular contest on Wednesday, April 8.
  •  Masters Extra, which gives AT&T viewers one hour of live play-by-play action before cable and network broadcast coverage begins.
  •  Amen Corner Live, which features live coverage of the 11th, 12th and 13th holes.
  •  15th/16th Live, which features live coverage of the 15th and 16th holes

TIme to grab that car charger!

iPhone 3.0 OS

Have an iPhone?  Want to know what’s going to be new with the 3.0 OS?  Click here for all the goodies thanks to Gizmodo.  Oh, they’re also adding MMS Messaging… BOUT TIME!  (No apparent release date as of yet)

iPhone Prison Break

I finally broke down and Jailbroke my iPhone yesterday.  I had been putting it off because of the reasoning behind making my phone available for free apps just did not seem to be too much of a neccesity to me.  But after seeing some friends who were doing it (thanks Sal), and seeing the way you can customize your phone, I went ahead and jailbroke it.

After running the Quickpwn software you will have new icons on your iPhone, the one you want to use mostly is Cydia.  Download Winterboard & SBSettings to start and just fiddle with those until you get the hang.

I would suggest you have slight computer skills to do this on your own…

Jailbreak will work on iPhone release 2.2.1, and if you don’t like the jailbreak you can always factory reset your phone.

If you have an iPhone and want to personalize it and make it even more functional than it already is, I suggest you Jailbreak the phone.  You will not lose any of your current settings, and as long as you stay away from the malicious packages you will be fine.

Here is a quick screenshot of my newly Jailbroken iPhone.

As you can see, my icons are different and I’ve embedded a weather app in the background that monitors the weather in Metairie.  You can also do a lot of other customizations, that cannot really be shown here.

Check out Quickpwn for the Cydia downloader and a short how-to.  If you have any questions, feel free to post here.

Good Luck!!

Sirius/XM on iPhone

When I first heard about this, I was skeptical.  But now that I’ve seen more and more sites talking about it, and more and more shows on Sirius speaking of it I am starting to believe that it might be true.  I’m just hoping that the streaming quality does not rip through my battery!

This will be available through an App, and there is currently no solid news on a release date.  I have heard that as early as this weekend the application is being looked at by Apple for distribution in the near near future.

POP Email on iPhone

The one thing that I’m not too happy about (already) is that I cannot set up my personal POP email on the iPhone.  I can, but if I leave WiFi and enter the 3G network it does not work.  I have to use the POP info of AT&T to send/recieve mail.  I guess I’m forwarding my e.net account to gmail for now.  Which would be even better, and I should’ve done a long time ago since gmail has some of the best spam filtering out there for email.

If anyone knows a work around for my problem let me know!  I’m still reading about trying to fix…

Finally…

It’s shortly after 11:00pm and I have my iPhone updated with all of my contacts, calendar, music & what not.  If you need my new cell number, just call me on my current phone or drop me an email.

More stories to follow… trust me…
