2010 Movies to See

I sure don’t get to the movies as much as I’d like to anymore, but if I did here’s a list of some movies coming out this year that I think might be worth seeing…

Iron Man 2
Twilight: Eclipse
Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows
The Other Guys
A-Team
Predators
Get Him to the Greek
The Karate Kid

2009 Movies

Leslie & I used to go to a lot of movies, but lately that is just not the case anymore.  But maybe 2009 will bring about a change, because I know that I am personally looking forward to a lot of the 2009 Movie releases.

In no particular order, here are just a few that I am sure I’ll catch either in the theater or on DVD shortly after released if I happen to miss them in theaters.

These are all IMDB (internet Movie Database) links so you can view trailers, pictures whatever you want.

Agree or disagree with any of these?  You’re entitled to your opinion… let me know if I forgot any you think are going to be blockbusters in 2009!

Indiana Jones Poster

There has been a lot of talk about the recent release of the Indy poster for the new movie.  A majority of the talk centers around the skull on the poster.  Is that an alien…?

Heath Ledger Found Dead

Shortly after 3:30pm today, Actor Heath Ledger was found by his housekeeper dead in his New York Apartment.  Heath was 28 years of age, and is going to be seen as the Joker in the upcoming Batman movie.

What is Cloverfield?

Cloverfield aka 1-18-08 will be in theaters this Friday and looks to be very interesting.  Primetime Emmy award winning director and writer J.J. Abrams, famous for ‘Lost’, ‘Felicity’ & ‘Alias’ has not let too many stills or information get out about the skyscraper sized monster in his movie.  In fact, the actors themselves were approached and not given scripts.  The initial trailers show this movie as starting out with parties and fun and ending with terror in New York city.  That’s the only information that I can give you, since I wanted to stay as much off the internet with this movie as possible since I would naturally stumble on some inside information and spoilers.  The only site I have visited and really doesn’t help with the plot much is this one.  All we know is that a huge monster attacks, see if you can get something from it!

2008 Summer Movies

If you don’t know what you might want to catch in theaters this summer, read this article to help you along.  After reading this I also stumbled on news of this little gem, also unfortunate news that Transformers 2 might be pushed back because of the writer’s strike.  2008 should be a great summer for movies, but look for 2009 to be just as good…

Pixar at it Again

Disney & Pixar are at it again in 2008 with upcoming animated title WALL-E.  Famous for blockbusters like A Toy Story, Monster’s Inc., Finding Nemo and most recently Cars, Pixar is looking to do it again for child & adult audiences alike.  Pixar, originally a Lucasfilms (George Lucas) product which was sold to Steve Jobs before his return to Apple then partnered with Disney has prided itself on cutting edge animation with hilarity as a defining draw to parents of children nationwide.  Talented director Andrew Horton will lend his acting and directing skills once again to Pixar for this project.

WALL-E centers around a robot who after 700+ years alone, is suddenly visited by ‘outsiders.’  The film is set for release on June 27, 2008 and should be yet another great project from talented Pixar.

Watch the trailer here.

The Hobbit

Looks like Peter Jackson will be Executive Producer for the newly announced Hobbit movies set to release in 2010 & 2011.  Both films are going to be similar to the earlier ones in that they will be filmed simulataneously then chopped into two Hobbit movies.  Guess there are going to be some movies to look forward to after all.

This may come as a suprise to some since Jackson attempted suiing New Line Cinema after the first three movies saying that he was grossly underpaid and wished to audit them.  He and Robert Shaye, co-chairman of New Line and executive producer of The Lord of the Rings then ensued in a war of words which ended with Jackson being banned from making films with New Line.  So much for that…

Schrute on Screen

This may be a little behind, but it looks like Rainn Wilson has finally influenced enough people to hold a starring role and hopefully jumpstart his movie career.  He has been in other movies like The Last Mimzy & Sahara but has only had supporting roles.  Rainn will be staring in The Rocker set for release sometime in 2008.  Rainn plays a drummer that is kicked out of his band, and twenty years later ends up playing in a high school band which includes a family member.  This should be hilarious because I think he is very funny and should bring a lot of comedy to the screen.  Congrats Dwight!
