Unless you’ve been living under a rock you have heard about the infidelity of Eldrick Tont Woods (Tiger for all you keeping score at home).  Apparently Tiger has been less than faithful to his wife of five years Elin with a cocktail waitress he met in Las Vegas.  There are also allegations that this is not the only female that E.T. has been having rendezvous with while Elin was dealing with the two children.

Let me say the man completely messed up and is in the wrong 100%.  There is no excuse for infedelity, and if he was unhappy with his marriage he should have addressed that with his wife.  Secondly, everyone needs to get off the man’s back and let him deal with this privately.  Now before everyone goes flying off the handle, I am not at all promoting or condoning infidelity.  It’s quite on the contrary because I’m promoting privacy.  The media loves the fact that the perfect image of Tiger is now blemished with this human error causing an inconsistency of character.  Before he wrecked his vehicle into a tree, then hitting a fire hydrant no one cared about the good things that Tiger Woods was doing with his fortune from playing the game of golf.  What about the Tiger Woods Foundation?  What about the millions he has donated to host the Chevron World Challenge golf tournament?  Oh ya, he won that and donated all of the purse to his Tiger Woods Foundation charity which can be used for grants, scholarships, youth programs, international learning, and the list goes on and on.  The number of people that have been helped from Tiger Woods’s own success is immense and unfathomable.

The man is human, his mistake is human (once again I am not promoting or condoning what he did) the fact that everyone is all over the guy like stink on you know what is honestly aggravating to me.  Let the man have his private life, he messed up and whatever needs to happen will happen.  Aren’t there more newsworthy things in this world like our President sending troops to Afghanistan after he repeatedly talked about bringing them all home??

Leave the man alone…

If you didn’t read my Tiger Woods post go read it and add double stress fracture & acl tear to list of things he played through last weekend while winning the U.S. Open of Golf.

Why do people hate this guy?  Who is Eldrick Tont Woods you ask?  Well it’s Tiger Woods of course.  Do they hate him because in 2007 he was the highest paid pro athlete with $122 million to his credit?  Let us list some other reasons why people tend to hate this guy:

1. 14 professional major golf championships, the second highest of any male player
2. 65 PGA Tour events, third all time.
3. Most career major wins and career PGA Tour wins than any other active golfer
4. Youngest player to achieve the career Grand Slam
5. Youngest and fastest to win 50 tournaments on Tour
6. Woods has held the number one position in the world rankings for the most consecutive weeks and for the greatest total number of weeks
7. PGA Player of the Year a record 9 Times
8. Byron Nelson Award for lowest adjusted scoring average a record 8 times
9. Tied Jack Nicklaus’ record of leading the money list in 8 different seasons
10. Associated Press Male Athlete of the Year a record-tying 4 times
11. Only person to be named Sports Illustrated’s Sportsman of the Year more than once.

With a little research you can see why Tiger Woods can be hated, although all of the above reasons are reasons I like Tiger Woods.  I enjoy watching him pull off a shot and just wondering if he’s even human.  Or watching him limp down the fairway with intensity enough to still force a playoff.  Then how about play the playoff & then sudden death on a sore leg!?  How can you hate this guy!  It is not Tiger Woods’s job to improve the playing of other golfers (although he has been known to do so), so do not short him for having talent and using it to the best of his ability.  You also do not read anything in the news about him beating his wife or badmouthing other golfers, or complaining about contracts (then again see paragraph 1).

Get off his back already.

If you did not get a chance to watch the U.S. Open this weekend, then you really missed out on some classic golf.  I do not care if you do not watch golf or think golf is the biggest waste sport in the world (if you do then you obviouly have never played), this weekend was amazing when it came to Tiger Woods & his intensitiy on winning another major.  He faces off against Rocco Mediate today at 11:00am in the unique 18-hole showdown, so if you are able to get around a television I suggest highly that you tune in.
